

Tibet Overland Tour
Tibet Overland tours offer you an opportunity to explore the mystical cities of Tibet which was forbidden to visitors for a long time ago. Tibet is really a beautiful place to travel. It has many names: mystical land, Shangri La, Forbidden country which inspires an air of mystical dreams. In this eight days tour you will explore major spots of Tibet which are significant historical as well as cultural point of view. You start this tour from Kathmandu. It’s an exotic journey passing many monasteries, pasture land, nomad people on the way and reach at Lhasa. You spend few days in Lhasa enjoying sightseeing to various monasteries, monuments including Potala Palace, typical Tibetan market. After finishing it you will fly back to Kathmandu.

Itinerary
Day 01:
Kathmandu - Zhangmu/ Nyalam (3600m)- 150 KM
Departure at 05.45 AM from in front of Kathmandu Guest House Gate. Drive to Kodari (Nepal/ Tibet Border) approximately four hours drive. After completion of immigration formalities in border we drive to Zhangmu. Have a tea and coffee there. Then drive to Nyalam following Bhotekoshi River in a deep valley with some overflowing waterfalls.

Day 02:
Nyalam – Tingri/ Lhatse (4050m) - 295 KMS
Drive through Nyalam Pass (3800m) with the view of Jugal Himal. A continued drive via Lalungla Pass (5050m) has some of the outstanding view of Mt. Everest (8848m), Mt. Makalu (8464m), Mt. Lhotse (8516m), Mt. Cho Oyu (8201m) and Mt. Xixapangma highest in Tibet.

Day 03:
Lhatse – Xiagatse (3800m) – 195 KMS
Drive to Xiagatse, the place of the famous Tashilumpo Monastery and the seat of Panchen Lama.

Day 04:
Xigatse – Gyantse (3950m) - 90 KMS
After visiting Tashi Lumpo Monastery in the morning including the Bazaar of Xigatse. Drive to Gyantse, which is two hours. Gyantse is small busting town steeped in history. It lies 264 kms. South west of Lhasa on the northern bank of Nyang Chu River. In the 15th century it served as capital of a small Kingdom. Visit Kumbum Chorten which was built around 1400 AD. It later became the main center for trade with British India.

Day 05:
Gyantse – Lhasa (3650m) – 261 KMS
Eight hours drive takes you to Lhasa crossing the Karo La Pass (5010m) and Kambala Pass (4794m). The Karo La climbs between two lofty mountains, Nozing khang Sa (7223m) and Ralung (6236m). While driving you will see the Yamdrok Tso (Turquoise Lake) which takes approx. one hour to cross around. After passing Kamba La, Lhasa valley is seen to the north. You will also cross the Brahmaputra River. Reaching Lhasa and check into hotel. The accompanied guide will reconfirm your onward airline ticket.

Day 06 & 07:
In Lhasa
These days you will be engrossed with sightseeing and excursions of the Potala Palace, the Jokhang temple, surrounding Barkhor market, Drepung Monastery and Sera Monastery.

Lhasa – Kathmandu
In the morning after breakfast, transfer to airport two hours. Our representative will assist you. Departure of flight for Kathmandu would be approx. 10.00 hrs, china standard time and arriving Kathmandu at 09.00 hrs., Nepal standard time. Flight Lhasa to Kathmandu lasts for one hour and ten minutes. During the flight you will see the following: Yarlung Tsangpo River, Lake Yamdrok, Mt. Kanchenjunga (8586m), Mt. Makalu (8463m) and Mt. Everest (8848m).
